A Man Can Change Like The Wind

‘Changing Times’ Column 2006 – 2007

Is there such a thing as good or bad energy? Or is energy… everything. The magical raw material from which we manifest our feelings and fears.

It’s up to us what we do with our energy. How we spend and expend, harness and harass energy, often proving to ourselves that life will always give us what it always has, as we stay within the safety of our comfort zones and dramatically go round in circles.

A preferable path is to allow our to energy (attitude) to change. In turn, the way we spend our energy (action) will change, resulting in happier outcomes.

It may be worth remembering that we will never ‘get there’, as the only ‘there’ is actually ‘here and now’. Our picture perfect image of the future will change, as we step forward and gain greater awareness of previously unknowable possibilities.

“Be careful what you wish for, it will come true!” Energy follows thought.

In considering of our cosmic wish list and things we desire from life, we must be precise and clear. Any pictures we are attached to must go.

With all the wonderful therapies and treatments, self-help and 12-step books that have changed my life, the bottom line for me is that it’s all a bit of old hat now, and no matter how it’s presented, I know that it’s my ass I need to get into gear, unlearn, from my sneaky little sub-conscious and quite simply come from the right place. Put out for what I want – generally what I am scared of having for whatever small reason – and get on with it!

Meanwhile, what does energy tell me right here and right now? How is my life? My health? How are my energy levels and where am I allowing my energy to be seduced away? Where would I best focus? Life provides me with feedback, clues and temptations. It’s up to me to have the courage to straighten up and fly right.

A boy is full of wonder, adventure, eager energy to experiment and discover. Hormones going berserk and an attention span that can just hold out between commercial breaks. A man will hold his energy, come from firm groundedness, evaluate from sharp instinct, historical wisdom and ancestral depth. And we can change like the wind.
